LOLA & Company® Jewelry CLEANING & CARE

Routine care will keep your sterling silver, gold-plated, and enamel jewelry looking beautiful for years. All fine silver jewelry naturally ages and may tarnish or fade with exposure to air, moisture, and everyday elements, but with the right care, your pieces can remain radiant.

EVERYDAY CARE TIPS

  • Wear Your Jewelry: The natural oils in your skin slow tarnishing. Jewelry that sits unworn for long periods oxidizes faster.

  • Avoid Chemicals: Remove jewelry before applying lotion, hairspray, perfume, or cosmetics. Keep away from household cleaners, bleach, and antibacterial soaps.

  • Safe Storage: Store each piece separately in an airtight bag or sealed container to reduce scratching and tarnish.

  • Remove During Activities: Take jewelry off when swimming, showering, exercising, or sleeping to prevent unnecessary wear.

STERLING SILVER (.925)

  • Polishing: Use the LOLA & Company® polishing cloth to gently buff away tarnish and restore shine.

  • Tarnish Prevention: Wipe silver clean after wearing and store in anti-tarnish packaging.

  • Accelerated Tarnish Triggers: Household chemicals, perspiration, rubber, chlorinated water, sulfur (certain foods and environments), direct sunlight, lotions, cosmetics, hairspray, and perfumes.

  • Deeper Cleaning: For stubborn tarnish, a silver cleaner dip may be used briefly (5–10 seconds max). Rinse thoroughly, dry completely, and polish afterward.

GOLD PLATE

  • Gentle Cleaning: Buff with a LOLA & Company® polishing cloth - avoid abrasive materials.

  • Avoid Soaking: Do not submerge in jewelry cleaners. Commercial cleaners and antibacterial soaps often contain chemicals that speed tarnishing.

  • Protect the Finish: Apply lotions, creams, and perfumes before putting on your jewelry to reduce contact.

  • Chlorine Warning: Never wear gold-plated pieces in pools, hot tubs, or while using bleach.

.GLASS ENAMEL

  • Routine Cleaning: Wipe gently with a polishing cloth or cotton cloth dampened with mild soap and water.

  • Careful Handling: Enamel is glass - avoid impact against hard surfaces.

  • Storage: Keep in an airtight bag to prevent oils and dust buildup.

  • Discoloration Alert: If you notice cloudiness or discoloration beneath the enamel, contact LOLA & Company at exchanges@lolacompany.com.
